SummarySummary

History seems "a story told by an idiot." There is no moral progress: humanity still suffers globally from just as many wars, oppressions and miseries. Where evil decreases in some places, it increases in others.

Humanity thus seems neither worse nor better in different times. If there were a God preoccupied with morality, the moral level should progress; similarly, if there were a God creator of the universe who had manifested himself in a religion, this religion should impose itself on mankind. But all we see are divisions and moral stagnation. Finally, if a God were to guide a civilization, it would have to maintain itself: all civilizations obey cycles, some arise, others die...

There is no trace of evolution in history, which may obey laws, but not a "divine plan".
