Summary
Australia and Japan are islands that can easily be isolated. This is not the case for Europe, with its kilometers of land borders and seas that are much easier to cross than oceans. Geographically, Europe cannot close its borders. To do so, it would have to subcontract the border issue to numerous neighboring countries in Africa and the Middle East (Turkey, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco...), and ask these countries to apply an inhumane repressive policy to prevent the natural passage of migrants who want to join it.
