Summary

Quotes

« The European Union (EU) has long since barricaded itself in and turned itself into a fortress. It has turned the Mediterranean into a marine graveyard. With Frontex, its helicopters, warships and coastguards, it has raised a veritable army against migrants. The EU also pays Libya and provides it with boats to do its dirty work for it, chasing rafts out to sea, imprisoning migrants, torturing them and discouraging them from returning, before sending them off again. The Libyan coastguard no longer even hesitates to threaten to shoot at the rare humanitarian vessels that come to the aid of the shipwrecked. The EU has signed similar agreements with Nigeria and Turkey, blocking migrants before they reach Europe. And if they do manage to set foot on European soil, camps await them, notably in Greece and the Balkans, if not in the wastelands and shantytowns of Calais. This is how imperialist states wage war on the poor. »
