The objections (or counter-arguments) below aim to refute or nuance an argument of the debate. An objection can always be reformulated by a sentence beginning with “Yes, but…” or “No, because…”
Example:

“Grades motivate students to work”:

  • Yes, but grades primarily motivate the best (objection 1);
  • No, because grades discourage students (objection 2).

To rename an argument: edit the “Title to be displayed” field of the argument you wish to rename.
Note: to correct the name of the argument page, go to the detailed page of this argument and click on the “rename” button at the top of the page.

To change the order of the arguments: click on the dotted bar to the left of the argument you want to move, keep the click pressed, place your cursor at the desired location and release the click.

To add an existing argument: if you want to add an argument whose page already exists on Wikidebates, click on the “Add an existing argument” button and select your argument by entering the first letters of its title in the “Page name” field. Then write in the “Title to be displayed” field the title that will appear in the debate.
Briefly describe the changes you made in the “Edit summary” field at the bottom of this page, and click the “Save” button.
