The justifications below are arguments that aim to prove the validity of an argument in the debate. A justification can always be rephrased with a sentence beginning with “Yes, because…” or “Indeed…”
These justifications can be:
  • the logical premises of the argument;
  • thematic variations of the argument (examples of justifications for “Western Europe is in decline”: “Western Europe is in demographic decline”, “Western Europe is in economic decline” and “Western Europe is in cultural decline”);
  • studies, testimonies and other factual elements that corroborate the argument;
  • the general principles underlying this argument (examples of justifications of “The universe has a first cause”: “Matter cannot exist by itself”, “An infinite past is impossible ” and “There cannot be an infinity of causes”).
Each justification is the subject of a specific page which sets out its reasoning, its own justifications and its possible objections. Making the justifications explicit in this way makes it possible to deal separately with each of the elements of the reasoning on which the argument is based.

Depending on the box you check here, you will add a warning message pointing out the shortcomings of the “Justifications” section below:
  • Justifications to reorganize: justifications are redundant, need to be unraveled, or the structure can be clarified.

Argument page nameInformation.svg
It is the content of this page that will be loaded into the debate.
On Wikidebates, each argument has a page that is dedicated to him. You can thus use the same argument several times and in different debates.
Required-field.svg
This field is required.
Title to be displayedInformation.svg
A shorter or more punchy title can be displayed instead of the page name above. Take the opportunity to lighten it and make reading more fluid.
Example:

Argument page name: God exists because the universe has a first cause

Title to be displayed: The universe has a first cause

This field is required.
Warning(s)Information.svg
If the title to be displayed poses a problem, report it by checking the corresponding box(es):
  • Unclear displayed title: the title is confusing, jargon, overly allusive or telegraphic;
  • Too long displayed title: the title contains several sentences or is globally too developed;
  • Unfavorable displayed title: the title presents the argument in a lacunary or caricatured way.
