SummarySummary

Human beings have developed a language that seems to break with animal modes of communication; they have also created art, cuisine and science. These various creations have formed culture, a world in its own right that stands apart from nature. It's a sign that man possesses something supernatural.

QuotationsQuotes

“The origin of language remains a mystery today. Language is complex, has a purpose and uses abstract concepts. It couldn't possibly be the product of a simple assembly of molecules. How can we not marvel at DNA too? Let's face it: there's also a language that governs the functioning of organisms, including us! Who could argue, on discovering a computer on a beach, that it's the result of chance, of the action of winds and tides on materials over time? That would be nonsense.”
